Marie is an accredited Addiction Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor who has worked for the past 20 years as a Senior Counsellor in a HSE Addiction Service. Marie has extensive experience of both individual and group therapy as well as psychoeducational group work, using various evidence informed approaches and believing strongly in the importance of the relational aspects of therapy. Marie’s experience includes working in total abstinence programmes, harm reduction programmes, working with clients presenting with dual diagnosis, working with family members impacted by addiction and collaborative case management.  She has also many years’ experience of managing a team of Addiction Counsellors.  


Prior to entering the counselling field Marie trained and worked in both General and Psychiatric Nursing.  Through her nursing work she developed an interest in working therapeutically in the field of addiction.
