Hi there, my name is Louise Brennan-Moroni and I’m the PCI College Low Cost Counselling Service
administrator. Having joined the team in mid-January of this year I am still very much the newbie, but due to the high level of attention and support (mountains of chocolate) I am getting from my colleagues I’m reluctant to grow up!
As a counsellor myself I do recognise the need for a service such as ours. In my own practice I have seen a rise in the number of clients looking for Low Cost Counselling, so it is a real pleasure for me to be fronting the service. On a day to day basis my role varies. Some days the phone can be quite busy with callers looking to avail of the service while other days I am busy catching up with student counsellors who are either busy meeting course requirements or busy preparing for graduation! In either occasion the excitement and enthusiasm are inspiring. I am quite passionate about the profession, so being the first point of contact for potential clients really charges my own enthusiasm for the work.
The Low Cost Counselling service is a not–for-profit initiative of PCI college aiming to provide quality and ethical counselling, on a national scale, to individuals regardless of their financial circumstances. All counsellors on our panel are mature students of PCI College who are currently studying on the Dip/BSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy. The Degree is validated by Middlesex University and the Diploma meets the criteria for accreditation with IACP; as such all student counsellors practice according to the IACP code of ethics. Having had contact with most of them myself I can say that on both a professional and personal level they are among the best that I have come across in the field, and despite my ‘cautious’ approach in the beginning, I am now more than confident to be referring clients to them.
We currently offer counselling nationwide at the low cost of €15 to €25 per session. All of our counsellors have experience in a variety of areas, including:
• Loss and Bereavement
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Relationship Issues
• Stress
• Anger Management
• Workplace bullying
• Personal Development
• Self Esteem
• Sexual / Sexuality issues...
If you are looking to make an appointment please contact me on 076 6024 244. I am available to take calls between 10 and 3 Monday to Friday, and it is our aim to respond to all calls within 48 hours.
