Brian is an accredited Systemic Family Psychotherapist registered with the Irish Council of Psychotherapy and the Family Therapy Association of Ireland. His private practice is based in Stillorgan, Dublin and Laois where he works therapeutically with individuals, adolescents, couples, and families drawing upon evidence based best theory and practice in a confidential and non-judgemental manner.

Brian has several years lecturing experience as well as several years’ experience designing and delivering undergraduate and post graduate degree programs in Ireland and abroad.


His research interest relates to high conflict relationship breakdowns and the impact of these on children and young people. He has been invited to deliver his research findings at national and international post graduate research conferences such as St. Petersburg, Russia, European Parliament Brussels, Queens University, Belfast, the Tavistock Clinic, London, British Psychological Society, and Dublin City University among others.


Brian is passionate about inviting professionals and practitioners to consider integrating systemic family ideas and interventions into their existing skill set enabling and empowering practitioners working with one or more individuals in a therapeutic setting.

Another area of Brian’s practice relates to family law mediation. He is accredited with the Mediator’s Institute of Ireland where he facilitates separating couples to retain decision making control regarding the dissolution of the marriage / relationship resulting in legally binding agreements as an alternative to the lengthy, costly, adversarial and arbitrary court process that can last many years perpetuating conflict, adding to the emotional and psychological distress to children and young people as well as dis-empowering parents from making their own decisions about their own lives in a timely manner. Brian Mainly runs CPD for PCI College in his area of expertise of Family work.
