Albert is a counselling psychologist with a background in human resource management. As a psychologist, most of his work concerns the provision of counselling and psychotherapy, that is, helping people, including children and adolescents from secondary school age upwards, with issues that are troubling or distressing them, for example, stress and anxiety, depression, or low mood, relationship difficulties, loss and bereavement, bullying, anger, substance abuse and addiction, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and serious incident trauma.  He has found his business and human resources background to be very useful in cases where the person’s distress is connected with, or spills into, their world of work. Using this background, he also provides business, life and job-seeker coaching to help people with any personal or career development objectives.  Depending on the severity and complexity of the issue and the work that the person would like to do, he can provide short-term intensive counselling and coaching sessions or deep, longer-term psychotherapy sessions.  Albert also undertakes expert witness work in the area of workplace bullying and harassment.

Albert’s main qualification is a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (PsychD) and he completed this at the University of East London.  He has trained in a variety of therapies, including person-centred therapy and psychodynamic therapies, EMDR therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), to suit either longer- or shorter-term work.  He has also trained in mindfulness.  Prior to his career in psychology, he worked in business as a human resource manager. Albert will commence the role of Programme Leader of the MSc in Child & Adolescent for PCI from September 2023.
