Multicultural Issues in Counselling And Their Impact on the Therapeutic Process.

This Workshop will provide participants with an opportunity for developing greater personal awareness around the impact of multicultural issues in clinical practice today.

Course Details

This workshop is an opportunity for trainees, practicing counsellors, psychotherapists and aligned health professionals to explore the multicultural aspects of therapeutic work with clients from various cultures and traditions.

 

This is an interactive workshop and will draw on the experience of participants and the presenter in an effort to develop best practice and provide both awareness and support for those preparing for, or already working with, clients from diverse cultures. Participants will be provided with a forum for learning as well as an opportunity for developing greater personal awareness around the impact of multicultural issues in clinical practice today. You will also be provided an opportunity to educate and support those that are working in the caring professions and those that are working with a diverse group of clients in their clinical practice.

Eligibility:  Qualification in Counselling, Psychotherapy and students currently in professional training. Entry is by online application form.

Colm Early

Yr 2 Head & Supervision/Placement Co Ordinator - BSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy 

Colm is a founder member of The Centre For The Care Of Survivors Of Torture (CCST) in Dublin and of the H.S.E. Asylum Seeker And Refugee Support Service in Drogheda (ARCSS). He works as a supervisor, facilitator and tutor. He is an accredited Clinical Supervisor and a Psychoanalyst and he has an interest in multicultural counselling and the work of trauma in the clinic. Colm also has an interest with Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) schemes and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) work and he maintains a private practice in Dublin. Colm coordinates Supervision & Placements as well as clinical elements.
