Flagging Anxiety

How to help clients reshape their anxious brain

with Dr. Harry Barry

Between stimulus and response there is a space . . . in that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom”. – Viktor Frankl in Man’s Search for Memory.

Course Details

Anxiety disorder is one of the most common mental health disorders; it is estimated that one in nine Irish people will experience a primary anxiety disorder during their lifetime. Dr. Barry is a GP based in Co. Louth with over 37 years of experience. He is renowned for his interest and work in mental health and is trained as a cognitive behavioural therapist. He is also the author of the best-selling "Flagging Series" on anxiety, depression, therapy and stress. Barry saw a need to improve our understanding of the neuroscience of illnesses such as anxiety. He is now part of an international group of researchers and thought leaders, looking to create new diagnostic tools in mental health.

In this CPD workshop, he will discuss the neuroscience of anxiety and how understanding this can empower clients. One of the reasons his lectures work so well is his extensive use of actual cases. Throughout the experiential workshop, you can see yourself sitting in front of the client, both looking in and participating in the interaction. You will see how therapist and client should work together to solve the specific anxiety in each case.

Dr. Barry demonstrates how the cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques can literally alter our brains using the same neuroplasticity, in reverse, to block lifelong anxiety and panic.

If you are working with clients with any form of clinical anxiety, then this workshop is a must.

What our Students Say

“My experience with PCI was the best decision in my life, I would rate PCI 10. I'm not saying it was easy, especially starting a new career at the age of 50, but I got through with a lot of hard work and dedication. Liam McCarthy and Josephine Murphy were an inspiration and all the other Tutors I had during the four years. Since I got my Degree I have been so busy counselling, only last week I was offered another new job, its amazing. Next year I will be 70 and hopefully the work will continue.”
